Announcements of 2015 CFNKLS grants totalling $17,530 from the remaining CFNKLS Funds,. David Stewart noted that we had 17 requests this year totalling $28,768 for project funding. This required us to deny two applications and to reduce the amount of our awards to four others. Eleven applications were able to be funded in full. David then distributed the award cheques as follows:
Argenta Community Association: $1,070 – Little Mountain Chickadee (field trips)project. Received with thanks by Ellen Watters.
Argenta Monthly Meeting: $1,500 – Meeting House window replacement. (Will be mailed.)
Kaslo & District Public Library: $675 – The Summer Reading Club Program and 45Books in 45 Minutes. Received with thanks by Eva Keleman.
Kaslo Concert Society: $1,000 – 2015-16 Concert Sponsorship. Received with thanks by Karen Pidcock.
Kaslo Jazz etc. Society: $795 – Transition Project. Received with thanks by Bub Patience.
Jewett Elementary School: $600 – Music Program. (Will be mailed.)
North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society: $1,400 – Lifeline equipment upgrade. Received with thanks by Jane Ballantyne.
North Kootenay Lake Community Services Society: $1,800 – Farmers Market Coupon Program. Received with thanks by Jane Ballantyne.
Kootenay Lake Historical Society: $675 – Shelving for the Archives Reading Room. Received with thanks by Elizabeth Scarlett.
Lardeau Valley Historical Society: $475 – “Hands on History” program at the Fall Fair. Received with thanks by Peter Jonker.
Kaslo Trailblazers Society: $2,001 – 5th St. Unity Bridge project. Received with thanks by Val Koenig. Val noted that the Trailblazer Society is also 10 years old this year. With slight prompting he told us that on June 25 the Unity bridge is expected to be swung over river and anchored. Soon after, all the wood decking will be put in place.
Langham Cultural Society: $1,649 – For Langham brochures and new signage. Received with thanks by Maggie Tchir.
St. Mark’s Anglican Church: $900 – Creating access to the church for the disabled. Received with thanks by Karen Pidcock.
